Year 3 and 4 Boys Football Friendly Match

St Christopher 7 – 2 St John

St Christopher’s year 3 and 4 football team enjoyed a real goal festival in their friendly match with St John on Tuesday evening. Despite the early set-back of going a goal behind the home team discovered their shooting boots, laying siege to the St John goal cheered on by proud families and school mates.

The game kicked off in bright evening sunshine with St John wearing a grey and yellow kit setting up early attacks only to find St Christopher goalkeeper Joe in fine form. The home team soon found their feet and – resplendent in a new blue and royal kit – forced several early chances only to find the St John keeper in great form.  Both Zak and Patrick forced the visitor’s goalkeeper into good saves before the visitors took an early lead with a lovely flowing move.

St Christopher – led by captain Ace were quick to respond and replied with two quick goals to go in at half-time with a 2-1 lead. A thumping free-kick from Finn slammed against the far post too.The second half was a flurry of goals as the home team went goal crazy with Patrick completing a fine hat-trick and Zak and Joe scoring fine individual goals too.

St John never gave up and they grabbed a second toward the end of the game. The final whistle saw both teams line up to shake hands in a show of respect, fairness and friendship.
